Scovel's Pamphlet:
An 1898
Snapshot of
The Anamosa Penitentiary
In October 1898 the Prison
Press proudly
published a small booklet describing in detail
the current state of the Penitentiary at Anamosa.
Several pictures were mixed among the text,
including a delightful (but grainy!) one showing
a young Administration Building only two stories high!
This page will allow you
to browse the pamphlet in its
entirety.
The pamphlet was discovered and generously shared
by ASP correctional officer Jay Scovel.
